Jun. 03 /CSRwire/ - ORLANDO, Fla., June 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Intelligent Global Pooling Systems, operator of the world’s first all-plastic pallet rental service with embedded RFID (radio frequency identification) tags, announced today that former Brambles Ltd CEO, John Fletcher, has joined the company's Board of Directors.
Fletcher will provide both strategic counsel and operational guidance to the company at a time of tremendous growth as the supply chain transitions from wood pallets to iGPS' plastic pallet.
Fletcher, a seasoned executive with experience leading global operations, possesses deep knowledge of the pallet industry. During a 27-year period, Fletcher held key positions at Australia-based Brambles Ltd, parent company of CHEP, the wood pallet pool operator, including as Brambles’ chief executive officer for over 8 years. Fletcher was also a non-executive member of the board of directors of Telstra, Australia's largest telecommunications and media company. Most recently he served for 6 years as chief executive of Coles Group Ltd, the Australian retail giant, before retiring in November 2007.
"That John has joined our Board of Directors is further evidence that iGPS is indeed leading a paradigm shift in the supply chain. We welcome John to our Board of Directors and look forward to drawing on his experience, perspective and business acumen in continuing the steady growth of our company" said Bob Moore, CEO of iGPS. “John’s insights and knowledge gained through his extensive background in both pallet pooling and the retail industry will truly be a unique asset for our company and our customers.”
“It is remarkable to see what iGPS has achieved in just over three years. I have always believed that a lightweight plastic pallet with embedded RFID tags would dramatically change the supply chain for the better,” Fletcher said. “iGPS has achieved this today, and I couldn’t be more pleased to play a part in this exciting transformation.”
iGPS is the world's first company to provide manufacturers and retailers with an all-plastic pallet pool with embedded RFID-tags. iGPS’ state-of-the-art pallets are 30 percent lighter than wood, which saves on transport costs, are easier to handle and eliminate protruding nails and splinters that cause workplace injuries, damaged goods and damaged equipment. In addition, embedded RFID tags enable shippers and receivers to track and trace shipments in real time. Launched in March 2006, the company is led by pallet and supply chain veterans with decades of experience. iGPS (www.igps.net) is headquartered in Orlando, FL.
