The ADC Foundation, the charitable giving arm of ADC (Nasdaq:ADCT; www.adc.com), announced its intention to give $100,000 to Urban Ventures of Minneapolis in support of its project to build the Colin Powell Youth Leadership Center. In addition, the ADC Foundation will provide the new center with up to $50,000 of ADC products and services for the creation of the center’s telecommunications infrastructure. The announcement was made by William J. Cadogan, chairman of the ADC Foundation and chairman and CEO of ADC, in conjunction with the visit by General Colin Powell to Urban Ventures yesterday.

“Our commitment to Urban Ventures highlights the Foundation’s continuing commitment to support those organizations that promote technology education in our communities,” said Cadogan. “Urban Ventures is a valuable member of the Twin Cities community, and its Colin Powell Youth Leadership Center will provide needed resources and support to the children and adults its serves. The ADC Foundation is happy to help support this initiative.”

The Foundation’s contribution will be directed at supporting an expanded and advanced “Learning Lab” computer center to teach school-aged children and youth Web-based skills and other technology-related skills in order to successfully prepare them to enter the job market. The current lab facility, in partnership with five public schools and with the support of 25 volunteers, serves nearly 200 students per school term with computer-based instruction and personal mentoring.

The Urban Ventures Leadership Foundation is focused on developing youth leadership, strengthening families and creating meaningful work opportunities for children and adults in the Central, Phillips and Powderhorn neighborhoods of Minneapolis.

The ADC Foundation is the charitable giving arm of ADC established in August 1999. The Foundation’s priority is to support efforts that close the “digital divide” and provide access to technology to individuals that are disadvantaged by income, geographic location or other circumstances. The Foundation, through its grant activities, also strives to improve science, math and technology education at all levels.

The ADC Foundation currently has a budget from the pre-tax domestic revenues of the corporation of approximately $3.5 million. The Foundation includes 18 Community Connection Committees located worldwide in areas that have significant representation of ADC employees. These committees provide local support to organizations that meet the goals of the Foundation.
