CABLE, a civic and networking organization for professional women in Middle Tennessee, honored five women and a Nashville corporation at its membership meeting in June.

Carol McSwiney, an agent for Northwestern Mutual, received the CABLE Networking award. This award recognizes a woman who embodies the spirit and carries out the practice of networking to promote civic and career opportunities for women.
BellSouth received the CABLE Promote Women award for its benefits and programs to encourage women in their careers. Three women serve on BellSouth's board of directors. BellSouth operates small, minority and women's business enterprise programs to ensure that these suppliers are included in BellSouth's procurement process.
Rosetta Miller-Perry, publisher of Tennessee Tribune and Contempora, and Barbara Chazen, director of corporate affairs for Bank of America, received the Molly Todd Cup. Miller-Perry promotes equity and diversity through her publications and was instrumental in establishing the Anthony J. Cebrum Journalism Center to train young minority journalists. Chazen is an author and volunteer for many nonprofit organizations, sharing her wisdom as a speaker and board member.
Winners of the CABLE Spirit of Leadership award are Janis Christenson, a clinical psychologist, and Kathi Allen, a partner with the law firm of Farris, Warfield & Kanaday, PLC. Christenson established a mentoring program for CABLE members. Allen is an active participant in civic and community affairs as well as the American Bar Association.
The awards were presented at the CABLE monthly membership meeting in June.

CABLE was founded in 1978 and its membership includes more than 400 Middle Tennessee women from a variety of professional backgrounds. CABLE is dedicated to the promotion of opportunities for women and the development of women's influence through the association of members with common business and professional interests.
