Entries for the Conservation Awards may be submitted now through May 31, 2005. Award recipients will be honored at a gala ceremony at ChevronTexaco's global headquarters on Oct. 28, 2005 in San Ramon, Calif. Winners also receive a cash award of US$15,000, round-trip airfare for two to San Ramon and two nights' lodging.
An independent panel of leading conservationists will select six award winners. This year's panel includes: Helen Engle, director, National Audubon Society Board of Directors; B.J. Griffin, executive director, Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito, Calif.; Jack Lorenz, co-founder, Wildlife Habitat Council; Patrick Noonan, chairman, The Conservation Fund; Nancy Pearlman, founder, The Ecology Center of Southern California and Project Ecotourism; and Andrea J. Yank, Executive director, Natural Resources Council of America.
More than 1,000 volunteers, professionals and organizations have been recognized since the first awards were presented in 1954. ChevronTexaco Conservation Award recipients have helped to protect wildlife, restore wilderness, create natural preserves and parks, and institute educational programs to heighten environmental awareness.
How to Submit Nominations
Anyone is eligible to nominate an individual or an organization for the ChevronTexaco Conservation Awards. Nominations close May 31, 2005. Previous Conservation Award recipients prior to 1995 are eligible for the 2005 awards. Employees of ChevronTexaco Corp. or any of its wholly owned subsidiaries may not nominate candidates.
