Dana's Spicer Light Axle Group Earns Second Consecutive Circle of Excellence Minority Supply Award

For the second consecutive year, the Spicer Light Axle Group of Dana Corporation (NYSE: DCN) has earned the Circle of Excellence Award presented by the Indiana Regional Minority Supplier Development Council (IRMSDC). The award, which is sponsored by the National Minority Supplier Development Council, recognizes the axle group’s “outstanding efforts and dedication toward the advancement of minority enterprises.”

Specifically, Dana’s Spicer Light Axle Group was recognized by the IRMSDC as Northern Indiana’s top company in the manufacturing category for purchasing materials and services from minority suppliers.

Spicer Light Axle Group Director of Procurement & Supply Jim Hensel said, “Spicer Light Axle and Dana Corporation are extremely proud to have been recognized once again as a leader in the advancement of minority enterprises. This success is the result of the many mutually beneficial partnerships our manufacturing and assembly operations have forged with minority suppliers over the past several years.

Spicer Light Axle Group facilities have made significant progress in purchases from minority suppliers, advancing from $2.1 million in minority purchases in 1996 to $18.25 million in 1999. The Group expects to make more than $25 million in purchases from minority suppliers this year.

“Our significant growth in minority purchases over the past several years is indicative of Dana’s commitment to this important endeavor,” Hensel added.

Spicer Light Axle Group is part of Dana’s Automotive Axle Products Group, which consists of more than 25 manufacturing, assembly, and research and development facilities in 16 nations. The axle operations are part of Dana’s Automotive Systems Group, which provides under-the-vehicle products, integrated modules, and systems to customers anywhere in the world. Automotive Systems Group products include Spicer® axle products, Spicer® driveshaft products, Parish® structural products, Nakata® steering and suspension, FTE® brake and clutch systems, and a systems engineering integration and logistics unit.
