Marking an important first for the company, Gap Inc. (NYSE:GPS) was honored recently by the National Association for Female Executives (NAFE) during its annual 30 Best Companies for Executive Women awards in New York.

NAFE uses a sophisticated set of criteria to evaluate the companies it selects for this exclusive ranking. NAFE chooses companies based on the number of women in the management pipeline and those already holding senior management positions. Companies were also selected based on a demonstrated commitment to the development and continued success of women in their careers within the company.

"Gap Inc. is proud to be recognized as a company that supports the development and advancement of women. At Gap Inc., women represent 70 percent of our employee population and over half of our management team," said Eva Sage-Gavin, Executive Vice President Human Resources, Gap Inc., who attended the ceremony to accept the award on behalf of the company. Sage-Gavin was also joined by women leaders from across Gap Inc. and its family of brands. "We'd like to thank NAFE for this award and for its ongoing efforts to support and empower women to achieve career success," said Sage-Gavin.
