Cleveland - KeyBank is the winner of The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business 2005 Corporate Diversity Award for significant support of the college's diversity efforts.

Currently ranked 13th on DiversityInc's Top 50 Companies for Diversity, KeyBank contributed to Fisher College's design, funding and rollout of new academic programs helping minority students and aspiring entrepreneurs turn their ideas into businesses.

The jointly established programs include an interscholastic case competition for minority students and a workshop series held among world-class extracurricular activities hosted by the Business Builders Club, an entrepreneurship student organization affiliated with the Center for Entrepreneurship at Fisher College.

"The pursuit of the goals of diversity and inclusion represent daily effort and a continuing commitment whether on the individual and corporate level," said Sue Josephs, associate dean for educational and professional diversity. "KeyBank exemplifies that spirit and practice. We are proud to have their support for our own college diversity mission and to work alongside them in our mutual goals of a more just society and world."

KeyBank Interscholastic Minority Student Case Competition
Fisher College's Office of Minority Student Services earlier this year held the inaugural KeyBank Interscholastic Minority Student Case Competition, which hosted seven teams from prestigious schools nationwide competing for $13,000 in scholarships. Student benefited from the opportunity to develop important professional skills such as analyzing and responding quickly to often-complex business issues in addition to honing their communication and teambuilding talents while learning from the expertise of business executive judges and moderators.

The KeyBank Business Builders Workshop Series kicked off in fall 2004, with area business leaders addressing all aspects of business development over quarterly sessions. Topics being covered: how to identify opportunities; refine ideas; build teams; research and assemble resources for starting a business. Other topics include early stage marketing; business plan writing; financing strategies; initial costs; business budgets; breakeven points; launching a business; and basic financing options.
