Employees in 150 Locations Worldwide Celebrate the Value of Diversity Through March 3

Feb. 28 /CSRwire/ - Pitney Bowes Inc. (NYSE: PBI) today kicked off its innovative, week-long 'Diversity Around the World' celebration, which will feature activities in over 150 locations worldwide, and a video available to employees in all locations. Between February 29 and March 3 each of these global operations will celebrate the wealth of life experiences, cultures and ethnicities that enable the company to succeed in the diverse global marketplace. The scale of this celebration is unprecedented in the corporate world, as approximately 25% of Pitney Bowes' 31,000 employees will participate in a range of activities including diversity bingo, roundtable discussions, cultural food festivals, museum visits, poster contests for school children, presentations from civil rights groups and employee awards/ recognition programs.

Diversity is part of the company's competitive advantage according to Michael J. Critelli, chairman and chief executive officer of Pitney Bowes Inc. "For over 50 years, a key component of our successful business model has been an employee population that reflects the global marketplace. We believe that the diversity of thought and life experience in our employee population helps us produce superior product and service solutions because of a deeper understanding of our customers and the way their businesses work. Our diversity initiatives started in the 1940s, with a memo from the chairman wanting to ensure that our workforce was reflective of the diversity in the communities in which we operated. Today, people of color comprise more than 40% of our U.S. workforce and 21% of our management, and 50% of my direct reports are women. Our executive leadership team is over 50% female, people of color and/or non-U.S. born."

The 'Diversity Around the World' celebration also reflects the richness of today's global economy, adds Critelli. "For the first time in our history it is possible, easy and convenient to do business with virtually anyone, anywhere in the world. This week is also designed to raise the level of awareness and appreciation of the men and women who work for Pitney Bowes worldwide, and the key role which they play in helping us profitably serve markets worldwide."

All employees worldwide will have the opportunity to view the 'Diversity Around the World' video which features brief interviews with employees in a variety of locations in the U.S., Canada, United Kingdom, Mexico, Australia and Hong Kong. The video has subtitles in six different languages, to ensure that all of our employees can learn how individual uniqueness is helping the company achieve common goals.
