Calling Collect to the United States from Haiti is made easier with a new access number, 172, offered by the Sprint Corporation (NYSE: FON, PCS).

Sprint today announced that Telecommunications d'Haiti (PTT) has provided a new access number for Haitians to keep in touch with loved ones in the United States by calling collect.

With more than 1 million Haitians living in the United States there is an increasing demand for reliable, quality long distance service to the states.

In a ceremony at the Hotel Montana in Port-au- Prince, Sprint and Haiti officials from the PTT will make the new 172-access number come alive for the product launch on June 7, 2001.

"This is exciting news for Sprint and great news for Haitians who have often had few options to place calls to America." says Daniel Alcazar, assistant vice president, National Consumer Marketing, Sprint."

This access number will cater to Haitians with Creole in language telephone voice prompts to help callers understand how the service works and how they can get connected using this new collect option," says Alcazar.
