Sep. 01 /CSRwire/ - U.S. Bank will donate $20,000 to the
Montana chapter of the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army in Missoula,
Mon. in an effort to support victims of the 26 wildfires burning in that
state. In addition, U.S. Bancorp will match qualifying contributions by
employees of U.S. Bank and U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffray, dollar-for-dollar.
Faye Hanson Warren, president of U.S. Bank Missoula, and Dave Olson, vice
president of U.S. Bank Missoula, will present checks to representatives from
the American Red Cross and Salvation Army on Friday, Sept. 1 at 10 a.m. MDT,

The funds will defray costs incurred by the American Red Cross and
Salvation Army. The American Red Cross alone has spent more than $500,000 on
this emergency. They have distributed facemasks and indoor air filters for
asthmatics and other people with critical needs, and they have served more
than 21,000 meals.
The Montana fires have consumed nearly 700,000 acres and 300 buildings
including 70 homes. Between 12,000 to 15,000 people are fighting the fires.
"This is an unprecedented disaster in the state of Montana in terms of
structural loss and the loss of natural resources," said Wayne Hirsch,
commercial manager for U.S. Bank in eastern Montana. "As a corporate citizen,
we feel the need to help our residents through this tragedy."
U.S. Bank is offering additional financial assistance for its customers
