Aug. 18 /CSRwire/ - Approximately 425 employees of
U.S. Bancorp and it subsidiaries, armed with paintbrushes, hammers and good
intentions, will help paint, landscape and repair 18 homes in Minneapolis and
St. Paul on Saturday, Aug. 19, with peak working hours between 11 a.m. and 1
p.m. Their work is part of the second annual "A Brush with Kindness,"
sponsored by Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity.

Central to the activities will be a two-and-a-half story home at 619 Sims
Avenue in St. Paul's East Side neighborhood. A team of 36 U.S. Bancorp
employees will paint the house and landscape the yard. They will be working
with the homeowner, 70-year-old Shirley Nordstrom, and colleagues from Habitat
for Humanity and the Eastside Neighborhood Development Company.

"A Brush with Kindness" concentrates on restoring neighborhoods. This year's
event focuses on the McKinley and Webber-Camden neighborhoods in Minneapolis
and the Payne and Phalen neighborhoods in St. Paul. Some of the homeowners are
facing the challenge of single parenthood; others cannot do repairs because of
their age, disability or illness. The event gives these homeowners the
opportunity to live independently in safe and secure homes.

Approximately 2,000 volunteers from nearly 40 local businesses, churches and
community service groups will repair 85 homes in five Twin Cities
neighborhoods by the end of the summer. The work is done free of charge to the
homeowner. The Valspar Corporation donates all of the paint, and the other
materials are donated by Home Depot, 3M and other local businesses.
