New "Color of Hope" Jewelry Collection Donates 100% of Net Profits to The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund

Sep. 10 /CSRwire/ - NEW YORK, NY - September 10, 2007 - L'Oreal Paris proudly commemorates the 10th anniversary of its partnership with The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF) and its ongoing commitment to women's health and empowerment causes. Over the past decade, L'Oreal Paris has offered hope to the tens of thousands of women afflicted with ovarian cancer, helping raise over $13 million dollars to advance research, increase awareness and ultimately find a cure.

In celebration of Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month this September, L'Oreal Paris is adding two new pieces to its Color of Hope Jewelry Collection, a fundraising campaign benefiting OCRF. The two new pieces designed exclusively for this initiative – a sterling silver Pave Pendant with Chain ($24.95 retail) and sterling silver Pavé Earrings ($29.95 retail) – join the signature sterling silver Color of Hope Bracelet ($24.95 retail) and the brilliant 14k white gold & pave Diamond Bracelet ($795.00 retail) that was originally created to commemorate the glamorous and star-studded 2006 L'Oreal Legends Gala. All four pieces feature an "O"-shaped clasp that can be viewed as a circle representing life, endurance, love or a symbol for ovarian cancer. The collection is a simple way for women everywhere to visibly and tangibly help the fight against this most deadly of women's cancers. L'Oreal Paris is fully committed to the fight against ovarian cancer and has developed several programs to raise awareness, educate women about the disease and its symptoms, and support survivors. As a multi-pronged campaign, the Color of Hope initiatives include:

  • Beauty for a Cause. The L'Oreal Paris Color of Hope Makeup Collection is every bit as inspiring, on-trend and fashion-forward as it is hopeful. Featuring products for eyes, lips and cheeks, the collection pairs the universally flattering shade of mauve with vibrant teal – the color symbolizing ovarian cancer awareness. Together, these shades represent strength, hope and inspiration. L'Oreal Paris will donate 10 percent of the retail price from each Color of Hope lipcolour purchased to OCRF. The collection will be available at mass market retailers in October 2007.

  • Hope Begins with You. L'Oreal Paris will donate one dollar from the sale of select skincare products to OCRF throughout October at participating Wal-Mart stores nationwide. L'Oreal Paris will also distribute a brand-new ovarian cancer awareness brochure that shares the stories of several ovarian cancer survivors and provides pertinent educational information about the disease.

  • Strong Educational Programs. To promote awareness and early detection, L'Oreal Paris created public service announcements featuring L'Oreal Paris spokespersons Andie MacDowell and Milla Jovovich. The announcements empower women to make educated choices regarding their well-being and encourage them to speak to their doctors about ovarian cancer. L'Oreal Paris also launched a dedicated website for this campaign – The website provides information about the disease and offers ways for people to help support the fight against ovarian cancer.

  • A Special Partnership. In September issues, Hearst Magazines will run a half-page "bookmark" adjacent to a full page Q&A about ovarian cancer and a photograph of each editor-in-chief of five different Hearst women's magazines: Good Housekeeping; Harper's BAZAAR; Marie Claire; O, The Oprah Magazine and Redbook. In an effort to raise awareness, each magazine will encourage readers to get involved in the fight against ovarian cancer, which affects over 22,000 new women a year in the U.S. alone. The bookmarks introduce a "call to action" for readers to show their support for the cause by purchasing the Color of Hope bracelet, with net proceeds benefiting OCRF to fund life-saving research.

  • L'Oreal Paris Ovarian Cancer Awareness Week. From September 17th through September 21st, L'Oreal Paris will sponsor a company-wide ovarian cancer awareness week dedicated to building awareness, compassion and commitment among its employees. The week includes a "Breaking the Silence Breakfast," which educates employees and important women in their lives about the signs, symptoms and risk factors of the disease. The company will also host a "Survivor Beauty Festival" day of pampering at the L'Oreal Paris salon for ovarian cancer survivors and those currently undergoing treatment. In addition, employees will be given the opportunity to receive makeovers by professional makeup artists using the Color of Hope Makeup Collection.

  • Annual Fundraiser. This year's fundraiser, "L'Oreal Paris Presents...A Night of Hope," will be held in Los Angeles on November 7th. The cocktail party and silent auction will unite famous faces from the worlds of beauty, fashion and entertainment to raise much-needed funds for OCRF.
