DENVER, Colorado - Xcel Energy was recognized today by the Edison Electric Institute as one of the nation's best overall utilities for providing services to multi-site, national energy customers.

In addition, Judy Corrigan, a national account executive for Xcel Energy, was recognized for the second year in a row for providing outstanding individual national sales account support to customers.

"The winning companies and reps deserve the praise they received today," said Steve Kiesner, director of EEI's National Accounts program. "Their work has benefited their customers, but their focus and dedication also serves as an inspiration to other electric utilities and National Accounts representatives. I'm also happy to add that as the retail electric utility industry grows more competitive each year, it's getting harder for the nation's chains to pick the winners."

Award winners are chosen in an open-ballot process by representatives of more than 200 national, multi-site commercial energy users across the U.S., including foodservice, healthcare, property management, lodging, grocery, retail, telecommunications and convenience-store companies.

Winning utility companies and account executives were selected by employees within these industries who have direct contact with utility personnel involved in energy delivery, billing, design, operations and construction. Those voting on best utilities and account executives represent companies with more than $12 billion in annual energy use.

"This recognition by our customers shows that Xcel Energy is committed to providing low-cost, reliable energy and energy-related products that help business achieve maximum productivity and profitability," said Steve Nichols, director of national accounts for Xcel Energy. "We're truly proud of Judy Corrigan and our entire team, because they have accomplished a great deal since their inception."

Xcel Energy's National Accounts Team is committed to enterprise energy solutions for its business customers in five areas: lowering energy bills, enhancing energy management capabilities, improving business productivity, providing a comfortable environment for employees and cooperative support of energy conservation.
