In a time of uncertainty, there is one thing you can count on, inventors will continue to invent and progress into the 21st century will continue.

In Hawthorne New York, Dr. Sadeg Faris and his family of companies continues to push progress forward particularly when it comes to developing and commercializing metal fuels.

eVionyx, a company dedicated to developing and commercializing metal-air fuel cell technology, today announced the availability of EPM 100(TM), the first product in the EPM (Energy Power Module) family of small zinc-air power devices. eVionyx will be taking orders at the Electronic Vehicle Symposium 18 (EVS 18) in Berlin, October 20th - 24th and will start shipping in November. The EPM 100, as well as other eVionyx products, will be on display at the EVS 18 at stand number 17.24.

The EPM 100 is a disposable, 6-volt, 50-watt, high-power zinc-air energy source with an ultra-long shelf life. It offers a non-polluting power source that delivers at least five times the power of conventional batteries. It is also environmentally safe, lightweight, and recyclable. This flexible power module can be used in a variety of applications such as hand lanterns, fixed emergency backup systems, hand tools, military portable devices, food warming or cooling, water filtration, and signaling and laptop backup power systems.

The EPM 100 will be manufactured at eVionyx facilities in Hawthorne New York and in Jungli, Taiwan. eVionyx is continuing to expand the EPM product line and will shortly introduce a product called the EPM 1000(TM). This refuelable 1 kW product will be introduced to the market by mid 2002. The EPM 1000 will be an inexpensive, environmentally safe, high-energy source. Being interruptible and modular, it can be utilized in a variety of transportation and stationary power applications.

The EPM family is based on eVionyx's Revolutionary Power Cell (RPC(TM)) technology, which uses metal-air electrochemistry and offers a host of benefits over existing fuel cell and battery technologies. For instance, the RPC can be operated in multi-modes including disposable, refuelable, rechargeable, and RefRec(TM) (a product that can be both refueled and recharged). It can be applied to the entire power spectrum from milliwatts to megawatts. The RPC also uses environmentally friendly high-energy metal fuel.

"No one else has ever attempted this level of sophistication with metal as a fuel. Most everyone is chasing hydrogen fuel based products, which of course have serious limitations such as flammability and complex infrastructure. Metal fuel, on the other hand, does not suffer from these limitations and provides a safe, convenient, energy efficient source," states Dr. Sadeg Faris, President and Chief Executive Officer of eVionyx.
