Southern States Power Co.'s Biodiesel Fuel is Registered With U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

Southern States Power Co. Inc. (OTCBB:SSPC - news) today announced that the company has received notice that its fuel has been registered with the United States Environmental Protection Agency as, ''OxEG Biodiesel.''

Under the Code of Federal Regulations 40 CFR 79, the registration allows the company to introduce the fuel it produces at the Coachella Valley Production Facility into the U.S. market.

William O. Sheaffer, president of Southern States Power Co. commented, ''This is just the latest step for the company in its growth as a biodiesel provider. With one facility currently producing, an aggressive sales and marketing program in both fuel and power generation underway, and growing acceptance of the company's OxEG Biodiesel, Southern States is in excellent position to increase revenues and shareholder value.''

To attain registration of its fuel, Southern States Power Co. provided the EPA with independent test results verifying the composition of OxEG Biodiesel. As a result of this milestone, Southern States Power Co. will pursue all opportunities to sell its fuel to agencies of the U.S. government, such as the Departments of Agriculture, Interior and Defense. EPA registration does not signify an endorsement or approval of a fuel by any agency of the United States.

The company

The primary focus of Southern States Power Company Inc. is to develop, produce and distribute alternative fuels, particularly its OXyG Biodiesel, for use by consumers and commercial businesses. While the demand for alternative fuels is great, there are few producers ready to meet the growing need.

There are nearly 27 billion gallons of diesel consumed annually in the United States alone, and an additional volume is consumed internationally. It is the goal of the United States Department of Energy that 30% of petroleum-based motor fuel be replaced by alternative fuels by the year 2010.

Federal and state fleets are mandated to use up to 75% domestically produced alternative fuels. President George W. Bush's recently released National Energy Policy emphasized the growing role that biodiesel will play in the nation's energy future.

Southern States Power is poised to capture a significant portion of the rapidly expanding biodiesel market through an aggressive marketing plan as well as contacts in government, business and industry. Tightening clean air standards and growing fossil fuel costs are forcing private commercial fleets to look toward alternative fuel products. Major biodiesel initiatives have been passed in Arizona, Ohio, New Jersey, Nevada, Delaware and Iowa. More information can be found at the company's Web site: www.sspowerco.com.
