James Carman To Lead TechnoServe's Business-Building Initiatives in Kenya

TechnoServe President and CEO Peter A. Reiling announced today that James Carman has been appointed TechnoServe's Country Director for Kenya. Mr. Carman has more than 20 years of experience as an international business manager with proven success in agriculture, food processing, logistics and commercial markets in Africa, Middle and the Far East. His experience includes business analysis, joint ventures, business-to-business solutions, and turnarounds in leading industries.

Mr. Carman joins TechnoServe from LKOM, a venture capital group where he was CEO of a joint venture for the company's operations in Africa and the Association of South East Asian Nations. His duties included transforming business losses into substantial profits, then supporting the sale of the partnership. Prior to LKOM, Mr. Carman was an International Business Development Manager for BET, a British company with operations in health, education and management outsourcing for the private and public sectors in Africa and the Middle East.

Prior to BET, Mr. Carman was the Commercial Director for Bahra Development Consultants, where he provided management analysis to food processing companies in Africa and the Gulf States. Prior to Bahra, Mr. Carmen was a Group Development Manager for eight years with Lonhro, where he specialized in joint venture development and asset management of agricultural processing companies among others.

Mr. Carman has a B.S. in Engineering from London Polytechnic and a MBA from the University of Natal, South Africa.
