EPA Approves BBJ Product For Use Against Hepatitis B Virus

BBJ Environmental Solutions (OTCBB: BBJE - news) is pleased to announce that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has given its approval for BBJ Spray Disinfectant/Cleaner to be used against Hepatitis B Virus (HBV).

Robert Baker, Chairman and CEO of BBJ, reports, "The approval of BBJ Spray Disinfectant/Cleaner (BBJ Spray) for use against HBV should create widespread demand for our product from hospitals and healthcare facilities that are currently using chlorine bleach to combat the spread of HBV. BBJ's quat-based formula for use against HBV should prove more desirable to the healthcare facilities because of the additional product benefits. BBJ Spray cleans and disinfects, has low toxicity, is odorless and will not burn the skin. As such, BBJ Spray effectively combines the germ killing ability of a disinfectant with a cleaning agent for use in homes, hospitals, nursing homes, schools, food processing plants, food service establishments, transportation terminals, office buildings, manufacturing facilities, lodging establishments, retail businesses and athlete/recreational facilities where housekeeping is of prime importance in controlling the hazard of cross contamination."

Mr. Baker added, "As a disinfectant product allowed for use under the U.S. Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration's Blood-borne Pathogen Guidelines, this product also exhibits disinfectant efficacy against Mycobacterium tuberculosis (BCG), Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella choleraesuis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli 0157:H7, Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Vancomycin intermediate resistant Staphylococcus aureus (VISA), Vancomycin resistant Enterococcus faecalis (VRE), HIV-1 (associated with AIDS), Canine Parvovirus, and Poliovirus Type 1."

"The HBV claim is the biggest out there," says Brian Frank, business development manager at Stepan Company (NYSE: SCL - news: www.stepan.com), a Northfield, and IL-based producer of quats. "It's as big as HIV (the virus that causes AIDs) a few years ago or TB (Tuberculosis) and like in those instances, the EPA decision will have major ramifications."
