Nominations Being Accepted for Marie R. Pistilli Women in EDA Achievement Award; Annual Award Recognizes Individuals Who Have Helped Advance Women in EDA

Nominations are now being accepted for the Marie R. Pistilli Women in Electronic Design Automation (EDA) Achievement Award, presented annually to the individual who has visibly helped advance women in EDA. The deadline for submission is Friday, March 1.

The award, named for the former organizer of the Design Automation Conference (DAC) Marie R. Pistilli, is open to females or males in industry or academia with either a technical or non-technical background. To be eligible, nominees should have a demonstrated commitment to the advancement of women in the EDA industry through mentoring or through creating opportunities.

The winner will be announced during the Workshop for Women in Design Automation (WWINDA), held yearly during DAC. This year's workshop is scheduled for Monday, June 10, from 1:15 -4 p.m. DAC will be held June 10-14, 2002, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.

Former winners are Penny Herscher, chief executive officer of Simplex Solutions, Inc., and Deirdre Hanford, senior vice president of business market development at Synopsys Inc.

"This is an affirmation to the industry of the tremendous contributions of its women members and the progress we've made," remarks Jan Willis, chair of WWINDA and vice president of business development at Simplex Solutions.
