London, UK - Retailers and their supply chain partners who want to learn how to provide effective solutions to consumers' needs should attend Ethical Corporation's Retail Supply Chain Conference, September 25, 26 and 27, 2002 in London, UK. Throughout the three-day event leading retailers will share their experience on how integrating corporate responsibility into day-to-day business strategy is winning them friends and producing measurable gains. The conference is organised in association with the British Retail Consortium.

"Company and individual retail success depends on the ability to work collaboratively in partnerships and teams. This conference has been designed to provide opportunities to share ideas, hear different perspectives on industry issues and understand current best practice from leaders in the field - sustainability is an issue that the retail sector can no longer ignore," said Conference Chairman, Jeremy Beadles from the British Retail Consortium.

The conference's case studies and workshops will explore the importance of developing consumer-driven supply chains, driving on-going processes of engagement with key consumer issues, identifying key challenges in coordinating business efforts internally and ensuring supplier buy in. In addition, an executive workshop on "Decisions in Crisis" led by Warwick Business School's Corporate Citizenship Unit will explore the links between personal, interpersonal, organisational and social dynamics.

"The aim of the conference is to provide participants with plenty of take-home ideas and plans that they can implement into their businesses. Workshops and case studies are built into the conference agenda to allow attendees maximum learning opportunities", added Ethical Corporation magazine Editor, Toby Webb.

Four workshops will explore issues such as tapping the hidden value of supply chains, managing broader Human Rights questions, how to implement codes of labour practice and how to gain awareness from different perspectives eg. NGOs, Government, Media, Trade Unions. These workshops are conducted by the International Business Leaders Forum, Amnesty International, Sigma and the Ethical Trading Initiative.

The conference will highlight best ethical practice with case studies from such companies as Sainsbury's, Marks & Spencer, Kingfisher, Chiquita, Pentland Group, Dole Foods, H&M, Nestle, Cafédirect and many more.

The Retail Supply Chain conference will be beneficial to all businesses that are interested in managing sustainability in their supply chains.
