Verité is an organization called in to work with the likes of New Balance and Timberland to implement best practices and conduct social audits in order to balance profitability with social responsibility. Heather White, Executive Director and founder of Verité, will speak about their work to ensure that people worldwide work under safe, fair, and legal conditions. She will tell us why addressing these issues is important for organizations in today’s market.
Bringing a Canadian perspective to this panel is Rob Moore, VP of Corporate Communications of the Hudson’s Bay Company and Denise Taschereau, Social and Environmental Responsibility Manager from Mountain Equipment Co-op. Rob will speak about HBC’s commitment to finding the most socially compliant and capable factories. Learn how MEC selects factories that work to be role models of responsible business and labour practices and why MEC believes that supporting good practices at a factory level is part of a broader human rights solution. Deb Abbey, President of Real Assets Investment Management, will moderate the session.
