SAN FRANCISCO, CA - May 6, 2009 - VolunteerMatch has honored Exelon as its Corporate Volunteer Program of the Year for the second year in a row for leadership in employee volunteer program management in its annual survey of corporate volunteering in the United States.

The award, announced at the organization's annual client summit, recognizes outstanding achievement and impact within the VolunteerMatch network of leading companies and brands. This year's honors were presented in San Francisco in April, and covered 2008 program activities at more than 110 companies.

Exelon, based in Chicago, was honored for the second year in a row as Corporate Volunteer Program of the Year. Given to the employee volunteer program with the best overall performance, the award considers key impact metrics including program awareness levels among employees, employee involvement rates and hours volunteered. In recognizing Exelon, VolunteerMatch cited the company's successful Energy for the Community program, which incentivizes employee participation and rewards outstanding involvement with grants to the nonprofits served.

"Effective employee volunteer programs need a sustained focus, innovative incentives, and real care for the needs of nonprofits," said Greg Baldwin, president of VolunteerMatch. "Exelon has once again demonstrated what this combination looks like in real life."

"We have our employees to thank for the success of our volunteer program," said Steve Solomon, Exelon's director of corporate relations. "Exelon's volunteer program has grown by 35 percent in the past year because of our employees' enthusiasm for volunteerism and giving back to their communities. That is truly a testament to Exelon's culture and the company's focus on being a responsible corporate citizen."

This is the third year that VolunteerMatch, the Web's largest and most popular volunteer network, has recognized the achievements of key partners within its client community.
