The awards, presented by the leading industry newsletter PR NEWS, are one of the only programs that recognize this increasingly important area of public relations. Winners of the 2002 program were honored in four categories: Community Affairs, CSR Report, Diversity Communications and Environmental Communications.
"In a year in which corporate malfeasance was more likely to be in the news than corporate volunteerism, our winners accomplished powerful change for the better within their communities," notes Peggy Stuntz, editor of PR NEWS and one of the CSR judges.
PR NEWS has renamed the awards program this year the Social Responsibility Awards (SRA) to reflect the eligibility of nonprofit organizations and associations.
