SJF Named as One of Best 'Green Investing' Firms in U.S.

DURHAM, N.C., and PHILADELPHIA, PA - The Sustainable Jobs Fund, LP (SJF), a $17 million venture capital fund that invests in sustainable companies that generate quality entry-level employment, today announced that it has been honored by the national Community Investing Campaign as one of 10 leading "green investing" organizations in the United States that are "leaders in providing financing for small businesses to create environmentally friendly products and services in their communities."

"We are deeply gratified to have this kind of national attention focused on the work of SJF, which is dedicated to improving the lives of underserved individuals and communities through environmentally focused investing," SJF Managing Director David Kirkpatrick said. "By concentrating on companies that benefit the environment, we're making an investment not only for ourselves but for generations to come."

SJF portfolio companies include Sun and Earth (www.sunandearth.com), which produces environmentally friendly cleaning products in Norristown, PA, and expects to create up to 76 additional jobs; EvCo Research www.evco-research.com), which manufactures recyclable water-repellant and strength-enhancing coatings for the paper and packaging industries in Atlanta, GA; Salvage Direct (www.salvagedirect.com), which hosts on-line auctions and provides vehicle management services for the auto salvage industry and is projecting an additional 70 positions in rural Titusville, PA; and SelecTech (www.selectechinc.com) of Taunton, MA, which produces commercial flooring tiles, planters, landscape timbers, and parking products from plastic and carpet scrap using a unique injection molding process.
