LONDON ? The first speakers for ?How to Implement CSR Communications for Business Results?were announced today. This forum will take place in London UK 24 - 25 February 2004. Follow-up sessions in each location will take place in June and additional UK speakers will be announced shortly.

Organized by CSR Data Networks, the event uses a ?360 degree business action learning format? developed by CSR Data Networks. This format provides participants with a highly interactive networking and learning experience and enables delegates to take away a practical framework to progress their CSR Communication strategies.

The event is designed to bring together CSR teams wanting to increase their communications effectiveness and corporate communications and public affairs professionals wanting to integrate CSR messages with their existing programs.

Participants will listen, interact, network and learn from insightful case study presentations by:

  • Liz Tooke, Head of Public Affairs at BAA who will provide a practical case study presentation on recent stakeholder engagement projects on climate change and the 5th terminal at Heathrow airport.

  • Oliver Karius from Sustainable Asset Management who is responsible for SAM?s research services will provide a valuable insight into how communication professionals make the business case to there CFO and the investment community. You will learn how investors quantify value and business viability. (A must for any successful communications practitioner)

  • Jenny Dawkins, Head of Research at MORI will share valuable information on stakeholder mapping; how do you research the expectations and perceptions of multiple audiences and identify the communication gaps. Jenny will focus on examples of different communication preferences from different audiences and examples of different priorities for different stakeholder groups and their different information needs.

In addition, this gathering will feature a Media Debate on ?How do you effectively deal with the media to communicate CSR initiatives, positive messages and business viability??

  • Michael Hastings, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility for the BBC, will moderate the debate.

  • Kieron Shaw, Editor, The Business Communicator will be one of the participants.

The initial two-day program is structured to provide participants with a practical working knowledge of CSR Communications. Beginning with an introduction to the challenges of such programs, participants will examine topics from how to research and select the core CSR message for their company to how to work with investor relations and will explore guidelines for effective CSR press releases, current best practises in reporting and methods for reaching internal and external stakeholder audiences. Follow-up sessions several months later allow participants to review their plans and address challenges that have arisen in implementation. Several advanced topics including the legal context for CSR Communications will also be addressed in the second session.
