Green House Network Enrolls Blythe Danner as National Honorary Chair for Race to Stop Global Warming

"I am deeply honored to serve as National Honorary Chair for the Race to Stop Global Warming," said Ms. Danner. "This event presents us all with a golden opportunity to focus our attention on our most dire environmental problem today. We know that only by making a concerted effort to do all we can to reduce energy consumption and accelerate our use of alternative energy, will there be a chance to leave the world a better place for our children and grandchildren."
With three races already completed in Denver, Portland, and San Francisco, the five remaining races will take place in:
Danner is scheduled to appear at New York City's first annual race, which kicks off at 6:30 PM on October 15 in Central Park.
"Climb on board and join the race," continued Ms. Danner. "We're off and running to take the message not only to Americans all across the country, but to the White House which especially needs to hear our message loud and clear."

About the Race to Stop Global Warming
The Race to Stop Global Warming, which originated in Portland on April 22, 2000, the 30th anniversary of Earth Day, brings together fitness, business and environmental communities, integrating environmental literacy with personal fitness and accountability, in an effort achieve a more livable and sustainable future. Sponsors include companies that are screened for their environmentally aware business practices, such as Aveda, Nike and Toyota Prius.
To further the educational component of the Race to Stop Global Warming series, Green House Network invites various non-profit organizations to provide their expertise and educate participants on the science and solutions for climate change. 2003 marks the first year that World Wildlife Fund (WWF) has joined forces, focusing on a particular species or ecosystem that is being threatened by climate change - in this case, the plight of the polar bear.
In addition, the Race to Stop Global Warming has attracted the attention and support of highly regarded cultural institutions, such as the Oregon Zoo, the Science Museum of Minnesota and Chicago's Field Museum. The Chicago Field Museum, a world-class natural history institution, will host the Race as a way to promote a special series of public programs called "The Year of Biodiversity and Conservation" (YBC). YBC is geared towards raising public awareness of crucial scientific issues, along with the work of the Museum's 81 Ph.D. scientists, including research on climate change.
