WASHINGTON, D.C. - The United States Chamber of Commerce Center for Corporate Citizenship announced the nomination period for its 2005 Corporate Citizenship Awards, recognizing America's leading corporate citizens, is now open.

"There are businesses and local chambers making important contributions in their communities daily," said Stephen Jordan, CCC executive director. "From donations of money and material for community events to large philanthropic gifts, businesses are making a difference. These awards recognize these groups for their stewardship."

The Center for Corporate Citizenship will present six awards in several categories, including the Citizenship in Action Award, the U.S. Community Service Award, the International Community Service Award, and the Corporate Stewardship Awards recognizing small, midsize and large businesses.

To be eligible, award candidates must be an accredited chamber of commerce, trade association or a registered U.S. company and member of the U.S. Chamber through a local or international affiliation. Companies, trade associations and chambers may nominate themselves, or they may be nominated by nonprofits or third parties. Nominations must be postmarked by July 15.

Nomination forms and more information on the awards process are available online. www.uschamber.com/ccc. Phone calls can be made to CCC at 202-463-3133.

The Chamber will host a recognition dinner for nominees and recipients on Nov. 8 in Washington, D.C.
