Tomorrow's Leaders of JCI Meet with United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan and Other UN Officials to Discuss How to Continue the Advancement of the Global Community

NEW YORK, NY -National and international leaders of Junior Chamber International (JCI), the leading worldwide federation of young leaders and entrepreneurs from over 100 countries, gathered August 6th with Secretary Kofi Annan and other UN officials at UN headquarters in New York City to explore ways to achieve the UN Millennium Development Goals. These include critical goals such as eradicating extreme poverty and hunger, reducing child mortality and combating HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases.
Working closely with UN officials, such as Assistant Secretary General, Gillian Martin Sorensen and Executive Director of UNICEF, Carol Bellamy, JCI delegates examined some of the key global challenges facing our leaders of today and tomorrow, such as ensuring environmental sustainability and developing a global partnership. Mrs. Nane Annan, the wife of Kofi Annan also personally presented a paper entitled "Water and Women". Delegates also discussed ways in which JCI can assist the UN in successfully carrying out these programs.

We believe they will drive forward the delivery of vital programs in important areas," said Kofi Annan, UN Secretary General.

"The future collaboration between JCI and the UN will continue the advancement of the global community by providing the opportunity for business leaders to create change."
