MAPICS Wins Women In Technology Best Employer Award

ATLANTA - Women In Technology (WIT), an association devoted to the development of Georgia's businesswomen in the technology industry honored MAPICS, Inc. (Nasdaq/NM: MAPX), a leading provider of enterprise solutions for world-class manufacturers, with a WIT Best Employer Award. The award recognizes companies for programs and strategies that create a better, more successful workplace for women.

MAPICS was honored with winners from IBM, Southern Company and ChoicePoint. MAPICS was honored for its pioneering efforts in teleworking and virtual offices. Over 50 percent of MAPICS' workforce are teleworkers and over half of those work from a home office. Very conservatively, the program provides savings in fuel amounts to over 45,000 gallons per year and a personal timesavings to MAPICS employees of over 22,000 hours. The company was also cited for its employee surveys and focus groups to ensure continued employee satisfaction.

Prior to the awards ceremony, MAPICS was announced as one of 12 finalists in the award categories, "Promotion of Women To Executive Ranks," "Emerging Growth Firm Award," "Work Life Balance Award" - $500 million and over and $500 million and under and "Best Employer Overall." Finalists were chosen based on surveys sent to both female technology employees and to employers in the technology industry. Winners were chosen by a panel of judges, including Pinney Allen, partner with Alston & Bird; Darnell Lewis, president and CEO of People Network Inc.; Marian Lucia, CIO of Federal Home Loan Bank; and Dawn Patrick, WIT president.
