WASHINGTON, DC - AED announces next competition for 15 new awards to support nonprofits and promising new leaders committed to social justice and peace.

Sponsored fields of work include:

International human rights

Women's rights/Reproductive Rights

HIV/AIDS

Racial justice and civil rights

Migrant and refugee rights

International Economic Policy

Foreign Policy/Peace and Security

Worth, on average, about $100,000, the two-year grants offer support for salary, fringe benefits, financial assistance, mentoring, and a professional development account for a promising new leader. The host nonprofit organizations receives a computer to support the work of the Fellow. A defining feature of the program is that the applying nonprofit and its prospective Fellow prepare the application together as a team.

Applications and eligibility criteria are now available from the New Voices web site at www.aed.org/newvoices. The deadline is January 12, 2004.
