The Institute for Sustainable Communication Brings Benefits to Piper Jaffray through Responsible Enterprise Print Program

NEW YORK, NY - The investment banking firm Piper Jaffray & Co. has engaged The Institute for Sustainable Communication (ISC) to implement a pilot of the ISC Responsible Enterprise Print (REP) program at Piper Jaffray's headquarters in Minneapolis. The goal of the pilot is to identify opportunities for the securities firm to reduce the cost and environmental impact of its enterprise-wide print-related business activities and purchasing decisions.

The REP program - developed and implemented by ISC, and supported by the Environmental Careers Organization (ECO) and Green Seal - offers companies of all sizes a systematic and sustainable approach to the management of printing, publishing and packaging practices. The REP Pilot Program allows corporations to improve their sustainability performance while helping to educate and train a new generation of communication professionals.

"Through its sponsorship of the first REP pilot program, Piper Jaffray is pioneering an effort to address the significant economic and environmental costs of enterprise-wide print activities," says Oya Demirli, Executive Director of ISC. "As a result of this pilot, Piper Jaffray has provided ISC with invaluable practical insight that we expect will lead the way for other companies seeking similar benefits."

Piper Jaffray entered into the REP Pilot program during August 2004 to support ISC's leadership in developing the model. An ISC field analyst, supported by ISC senior research analysts, has been on-site full time throughout the program evaluating Piper Jaffray print-related business practices and purchasing decisions. The results and learning obtained from the Pilot will be used to test REP research assumptions and methodologies against real world business needs to inform the creation of a robust, on-going REP program.

To learn more about the ISC, to provide funding for REP programs, or to inquire about initiating a REP program at your company, please contact Oya Demirli at the ISC.
