BRUSSELS, BELGIUM August 27, 2007 - The European Academy of Business in Society (EABIS), Europe's reference point on corporate responsibility knowledge development and learning, will hold its 6th Annual Colloquium on September 20-21st in Barcelona, Spain. This milestone event - the world's largest business-academic-stakeholder conference on business in society issues in management education - will be hosted by ESADE Business School, supported by IESE Business School.
Acknowledging the enormous complexity and challenges facing business and society today, the conference will examine the commitments and impacts that business can make through global governance to address the key issues of globalisation and sustainable development.
Global Leaders to Address Prestigious Gathering
The EABIS Colloquium brings together over 300 corporate executives, business school deans, senior policy-makers and civil society leaders. Through interactive, high level debate the event will identify future priorities and knowledge gaps around some of today's most pressing social, environmental and governance issues.
A range of prominent international speakers will be on hand to shape and inform the collective discussion. The conference will feature executive-level inputs from, among others: Antonio Brufau, CEO Repsol; Hans Ulrich Maerki, Chairman, IBM EMEA; and Lex Holst, Global VP, Shell. Other organisations represented include ABN AMRO, Seiko Epson, UN Global Compact, GLRI, Amnesty International Business Group, Princeton University, INSEAD and ESADE Business School.
Event Highlights
The EABIS Colloquium is also a platform for several other important events in the corporate responsibility calendar:
Promoting the Next Generation of CR Leaders
A special PhD conference will also take place at IESE Business School on 22 September. This is a vital platform for the young researchers and faculty who will be responsible for shaping future management development knowledge and learning on business in society issues.
There is increasing demand from business for new managers and leaders capable of running an ethical, sustainable and profitable business. Against this backdrop, EABIS has long been committed to supporting the next generation of academic talents who will define the content and nature of corporate responsibility knowledge and learning programmes in the decades ahead.
