Awards were made to one CEO of a design firm in each of 3 firm size categories (smaller firm - up to 50 employees; medium firm - 51 to 150 employees; and large firm over 151 employees). In addition to the 3 size categories, one grand award "The Outstanding Design Industry CEO of the Year Award" was presented to the most successful applicant regardless of firm size.
PSMJ's chairman, Frank A. Stasiowski, FAIA said, "With a great number of submittals, the panel of jurors did a fine job and as they reviewed each candidate. Review selection criteria included: Vision and Leadership; Corporate Performance; Global Competitiveness; Innovative Business Achievements; Strategic Quality Planning; Human Resource Management; Quality Results; Information and Analysis; Innovation and Ongoing Improvement; and Social Responsibility.
This criterion for this award is like no other in the industry. With having worked with hundreds of A/E/C firms in the past 30 years, PSMJ knows what business requirements are necessary to make the difference from a good firm to a great firm. I'm honored to bestow the PSMJ CEO-of-the-year award to each of this year's recipients. As the CEO each recipient has made significant contributions to their firm and has positioned their firm on the course of success."

Christopher M. Huckabee, CEO of Huckabee & Associates, Inc - smaller firm category
When hearing he was a recipient of the smaller firm award, Chris Huckabee said, "I am honored to have been nominated for this award. To be selected from the best design industry CEOs is a tribute to the Huckabee Team. This is an award that I will accept for a team that has focused on excellence. We've taken a firm from 5 people to more than 50 people in ten years. Along the way, we have focused on delivering value to our clients. Timothy W. O'Connor, P.E., President & CEO of RobsonWoese Inc. - medium firm
When hearing he was a recipient of the award, Timothy O'Connor said, "It is an honor for me to accept the CEO of the Year award from the prestigious organization of PSMJ. Tony Franceschini, President/CEO of Stantec Consulting, Inc - large firm category
When hearing he was a recipient of the award, Tony Franceschini said, "I'm honored to be recognized as a CEO of the Year for the professional services industry by PSMJ. Darren M. Welborn, President/CEO of WRG Design, Inc. - Grand Award given to the overall outstanding CEO regardless of firm size
