The Social Investment Forum is the only national non-profit membership organization dedicated to promoting the concept, practice and growth of socially and environmentally responsible investing.
Founded in 1985, Forum membership is comprised of more than 500 financial institutions, researchers, foundations, community development organizations and public educators. The Forum supports cutting-edge research on the trends, practice, performance and impact of social investing.
"I am proud to be able to contribute to the leadership of this important organization," said Ms. Dowdell. "I look forward to working with others on the board to advance the interests of the Forum members and promote responsible investing among individual and institutional investors."
Ms. Dowdell has led Citizens Advisers' social research group for the past three years. Her team works closely with Citizens' investment management organization to analyze publicly traded companies for their corporate governance, social and environmental practices. She also directs the firm's shareholder activism initiatives and sets policy and guidelines for the company's social screening process and community investment program.
Before Citizens, Ms. Dowdell owned her own consulting practice where she provided research, business planning and management consulting to companies in a variety of industries. Additionally, she worked as a vice president at the Washington Business Information Inc., the premier source of regulatory news and information for the pharmaceutical, medical devices, consumer safety and small business industries.
