NEW YORK, NY. - July 9, 2007 - A Financial Times report that assesses the value of business partnerships with NGOs and the United Nations ranks the Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria (GBC) sixth in a survey of nearly 500 such organizations.

GBC's rank is based in part on the organization's capacity to successfully implement programs as well as its overall adaptability and accountability to its private sector partners. The ranking highlights GBC's particularly strong ability to organize and execute complicated corporate partnerships-GBC scored highest among all organizations for program execution-and to surpass expectations and effectively leverage its widely-recognized best practices standards in the private sector fight against HIV/AIDS, TB and malaria. Out of the top 20 rated organizations, GBC had the lowest budget by over half.

The new business survey, conducted by the Financial Times in collaboration with the United Nations Global Compact and Dalberg Global Development Consultants, is intended to assess the performance of NGOs in their partnerships with the private sector, with a specific focus on corporate citizenship.

The report is published to coincide with the UN Global Compact Leaders Summit and the half-way point for achieving the Millennium Development Goals.

"The heart and soul of our work lies in uniting businesses, governments and NGOs in common cause, to leverage their resources and core competencies to make a concrete difference in the fights against HIV/AIDS, TB and malaria," said Dr. John Tedstrom, GBC's Executive Director. "Our 220 corporate members and other private sector partners are keenly aware of the importance of this multi-sector approach, one which we are continuing to refine and improve."
