The Office of Supplier Diversity brings a unique twist to refining its model for supplier diversity by engaging other organizations in the process.

Dec. 19 /CSRwire/ - The power of diversity in business was demonstrated by Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. at its annual Supplier Diversity Symposium held November 12, 2004 at the CNN Conference Center, Atlanta, GA. More than 300 business professionals and local media attended this signature event hosted by The Office of Supplier Diversity, Atlanta Braves, Enterprise Applications and Turner Properties.

Rosemary M. Jones, Director, TBS, Inc. Office of Supplier Diversity, brought expertise based on knowledge of how diversity influences the key areas of change for an organization and how it can increase the power base from which diversity functions. The program was structured in three parts: 1)General session, 2)Corporate roundtable, and 3)Networking reception.

Highlights of the general session include powerful messages from a panel of minority entrepreneurs from information technology, professional services and construction industries. The panelists discussed best practices in procurement, marketing strategies, building and nurturing corporate relationship and the value of supplier diversity certification.

The "matchmaking" roundtable session paired MWBEs with corporate leaders for an incredible information and networking exchange. MWBEs were poised to make connections and get the business. At the top of the list of participating fortune companies were AFLAC, Coca-Cola Company, Cox Communications, Delta Air Lines, Georgia Pacific, Johnson Controls, Lockheed Martin, and UPS. Other participating resource organizations included: Georgia Minority Supplier Division, Governors Small Business Center, Greater Atlanta Economic Alliance and Georgia Women's Business Council.

Many participants found benefit from the networking reception which facilitated informal business building and publicity opportunities.
