SILVER SPRING, MD - April 7, 2008 - Carbonfund.org and April Third Studios, Inc. announced today the release of Elusion, the first CarbonFree DVD. The introduction of the first CarbonFree entertainment product marks a growing trend in eco-conscious consumerism across many industries.

Carbonfund.org's CarbonFree label, which appears on the cover of the Elusion DVD, indicates that the product's entire carbon footprint will be offset through the support of greenhouse gas reduction projects. The carbon footprint was determined by assessing the carbon emissions related to the filming, production and manufacturing of the DVD.

CarbonFree product certification entails four main steps:

  • Determine the product's carbon footprint
  • Certify and register the product as CarbonFree
  • Offset the product's footprint through the support of greenhouse gas reduction projects
  • Conduct annual review and recertification

"We chose to offset the carbon footprint from the production of the film and the manufacturing of all the associated DVDs and CDs because there were carbon emissions we simply couldn't avoid," said Tex Thayer, Co-Owner and Artistic Director of April Third Studios. "From the environmental policies of the plant that manufactures the discs, to the emissions of the vehicles used during the shooting of the film, we did our best to make the right decisions to minimize our impact. Then we decided to partner with Carbonfund.org."

"The Elusion DVD is a great example of how art and film can be made more sustainable," said Eric Carlson, Executive Director of Carbonfund.org. "April Third Studios is already reducing and offsetting its own emissions as a CarbonFree Small Business Partner, and now by offering a certified CarbonFree DVD, it's taking further steps to enable consumers to reduce their own carbon footprint. We're very pleased with this new partnership."

    Other Carbonfund.org CarbonFree products include:

  • Tropical Traders' Royal Hawaiian Honey
  • Ecofuture's THEbulbTM
  • Monarch Beverage's Acute Fruit(TM), CoMotion(TM), NTrinsic(TM) and NTrinsic(TM) Sugar-free Energy Drinks

    About Elusion

Elusion is a non-narrative experimental documentary that is like a waking dream. It takes the best tricks from the myths, legends and ghosts of the North American BMX flatland community and blends them from one scene to the next in fluid motion with an original score that pulls its viewers inward. Meant as a historical document for future generations, the film shows flatland as we as flatlanders see it while maintaining the elusive nature of the riders themselves.

Elusion was the official selection of several film festivals including the Ybor Festival of the Moving Image, the Lone Star International Film Festival, the Dallas Video Festival and the Bare Bones International Film Festival.

The film features the following BMX flatlanders: Terry Adams, Chris Anderson, J.F. Boulianne, Pete Brandt, Ruben Castillo, Stephan Cerra, Chadwick, Travis Collier, Andy Cooper, Zack Demboske, Adam DiClaudio, Scott Ditchfield, Jon Dowker, Cory Fester, Jeff Foster, Aaron Frost, Mickey Gaidos, Stephen Hearn, David Impallari, Shayne Khajehnoori, Carey Matthews II, Kent Pearson, Nathan Penonzek, Adam Pergentile, Chris Pergentile, Jesse Puente, Will Redd, Brian Rybak, Dickey Sanders, Andre Smith, Day Smith, Ross Smith, Cory Stratychuk, Tex Thayer, Bob Walter, Dave Weathersby, Scott Weaver, Gabe Weed, Andrew Wickham, Matt Wilhelm, Roman Wilson, Chris Woodling and Alex Worden

The Elusion 2-Disc Special Edition DVD was released April 3, 2008 to select outlets. It includes a DVD with the film, DTS 5.1 and Dolby Digital 5.1 audio tracks, deleted scenes, an interview with composer Matilda and a commentary track, plus a soundtrack CD with all the songs from the film and DVD menus, plus nine bonus songs that totals over 50 minutes in length. If you would like a copy and don’t want to wait for it to appear on Amazon.com or at your local Best Buy, it is available from any bike shop or bicycle mail-order company in the US through Quality Bicycle Products.
