PHOENIX, AZ - PBS Station KOCE presented Robert Kiyosaki, author of the international best seller Rich Dad Poor Dad, and The Rich Dad Company with its 2005 "Excellence in Education" Award.

The presentation took place as Kiyosaki took the stage at the Los Angeles Convention Center, to the applause of over 15,000 people, as a keynote speaker at the Learning Annex Real Estate Wealth Expo. Rich Dad Poor Dad - USA Today's #1 Money Book for 2004 - is published in 41 languages and available in 80 countries.

The award, presented by KOCE's Marie Hall-Brown, host of the station's BookMark show, came as a surprise to Kiyosaki and his partners - co-author Sharon Lechter and wife Kim Kiyosaki. KOCE broadcasts from Huntington Beach, California.

In acknowledging the contributions of The Rich Dad Company to financial education, Hall-Brown said, "The world gives many people wonderful gifts...but it takes very special people to share those gifts with others."

Bill Zanker, owner of The Learning Annex, applauds Rich Dad's spirit of generosity. Zanker said, "When I asked Robert if he would support this event through a Rich Dad pledge drive with PBS he didn't hesitate."

According to Hall-Brown, the Rich Dad educational segments and related pledge drive was
the most successful drive in the station's history - setting a new PBS record.

"It is an honor for The Rich Dad Company to support Public Television," said Kiyosaki,
"We are thrilled to partner with an organization as committed to education as PBS and humbled by their recognition and support of the Rich Dad mission."

Ed Miskevich, assistant station manager, said, "KOCE is very proud to showcase the life-changing approach to economic independence presented in the program 'Rich Dad Poor Dad.' "

On behalf of The Rich Dad Company, CEO Eric Kufel affirmed the company's commitment to education: "Rich Dad is a mission-driven company and 100% of our efforts are dedicated to our vision of 'elevating the well-being of humanity.' "

Kufel added, "PBS' acknowledgement means a great deal to us and we value our relationships with all the PBS stations across the country."

Rich Dad Poor Dad is the story of Kiyosaki's two dads: his real dad, a well-educated superintendent of schools in Hawaii who struggled financially all his life, and his rich dad, the father of his best friend whose entrepreneurial spirit trumped his lack of formal education and set him on a path to become one of the wealthiest men in Hawaii.
