Peruvian School Children Gain Free Access To Cisneros Group's cl@se -- the First Latin American TV Channel

LIMA, Peru--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 16, 2007--Thanks to an agreement signed today by the Minister of Education of Peru and cl@se, the educational TV channel of the Cisneros Group of Companies, teachers and children throughout Peru will have free access to cl@se, the first educational cable TV channel in Latin America.

The agreement was signed in the Presidential Palace before Mr. Alan Garcia Perez, President of Peru, Mr. Gustavo Cisneros, President of the Cisneros Group of Companies, and the Minister of Education, Jose Antonio Chang.

"It is our wish to make a contribution to education in Peru, through a first-quality service that will enrich the experience of teaching and learning," said Mr. Gustavo Cisneros, President of the Cisneros Group of Companies. At the same time, Mr. Alan Garcia Perez, President of Peru, emphasized that "education needs the backing of modernity through content and information carefully elaborated, and able to complement our curricula."

One of the most important goals of the agreement is to rapidly bring the cl@se signal to all Peruvian educational institutions. Peru's Ministry of Education will determine the educational institutions participating in the project, and who will receive cl@se's signal first.

cl@se is an educational TV channel that since 1996 has offered the best of educational programming 24 hours a day. cl@se targets three specific groups: children (ages 6 to 18 years), teachers and parents, and covers a variety of topics including languages, science, culture, mathematics, and adult continuing education. cl@se also plans to co-produce and air cultural and teacher training programs.
