"We have a long history of conducting our business in a way that makes a positive impact on the community," said Paul Markovich, senior vice president, Residential Sales, Green Mountain Energy Company. "Partnering with Benevolink enables us to take our community support to the next level, and reward loyal customers by giving back to the charities they care about."
Through the program, Green Mountain will donate $15 to the charity selected by each new customer. The company will supplement this support by donating an additional $3 every month to the charities chosen by participating customers in good standing. All new Green Mountain Energy Company subscribers in Texas will now be eligible to participate in the program.
Benevolink brings together consumers, retailers and nonprofits to help each reach its respective philanthropic goals by enabling consumers to direct corporate giving to the causes they deem worthy. This partnership with Green Mountain is the first electric provider partner for Benevolink, which already has more than 200 online retailers on board.
"Benevolink's model enables consumers to actively support causes they care about simply by engaging in ordinary, everyday activities - like shopping for everyday goods and services, or paying their monthly utility bill," said Tunstall Rushton, CEO, Benevolink. "We are proud to provide Green Mountain with a program that makes it easy and free for their customers to give back."
