Madison, WI. - April 1, 2009 - Following a significant outreach effort to notify stakeholders and interested parties about the opportunity to participate in the development process of the Sustainable Gaming Standard (LEO 8000-200x), the Standards Committee that will develop the standard for approval by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI ) has been selected.

The standard development committee will be charged with developing a comprehensive framework and common set of sustainability metrics that assess environmental, social, and economic performance at all levels of the gaming industry supply and delivery chain and encourage continuous improvement in overall sustainability performance. Key components to be explored in the standard development process include energy use and emission reductions, as well as the procurement and use of more sustainable materials throughout the supply chain.

Leonardo Academy-the ANSI-accredited organization facilitating the development process of LEO 8000-200x -received applications from interested parties across many industries affiliated with the gaming industry. The list of applicants selected to serve on the Sustainable Gaming Standards Committee will be posted at Leonardo Academy's website at http://www.leonardoacademy.org/Projects/SustainableGaming.html.

"The goal of this standard is to aid the gaming industry in identifying and communicating the sustainability parameters of their products and services and to allow industry purchasers to identify their sustainability preferences when purchasing gaming equipment and services," said Michael Arny, president of Leonardo Academy. "Leonardo Academy is extremely happy with the quality and variety of applications submitted. All of the applicants are very well experienced and proficient in the necessary fields of experience."

The next step in the standard development process for LEO 8000-200x will be the first Standards Committee meeting, held via teleconference this Friday, April 3rd. One of the first orders of business for the Committee will be to review the Draft Standard for Slot Machines written by Leonardo Academy and to begin identifying key issues for consideration during the standards writing process.

It is anticipated that the final draft standard will be available for public comment by October 2009.
