LOS GATOS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 17, 2007--Solar power provides such a compelling proposition to homeowners that Akeena Solar, Inc. (OTCBB:AKNS), one of the largest solar installers in the country, has been asked to install a solar power system in Sunset Magazine's 2007 Celebration Idea House to handle the house's entire electricity needs, indoors and out.

"Sunset's Idea Houses are known throughout the country for identifying and showcasing the most popular and innovative products," said Barry Cinnamon, chief executive officer of Akeena Solar. "Sunset also has a tradition of being environmentally conscious, which makes solar power a natural choice."

This year's house, a multi-structure "Summer Retreat home,"
emphasizes conservation. The energy efficient solar panels installed by Akeena provide all the power for the home, including all appliances, electrical outlets, and indoor and outdoor lighting.

The idea house is open to the public for the magazine's 10th Annual Celebration Weekend, May 19th through 20th, 2007, in Menlo Park, California. For more information on the open house, please visit http://www.sunset.com/sunset/home/article/0,20633,1609905,00.html.
