Ted & Jennifer Housley with their two daughters ages two and six.

RADCLIFF, KY - June 27, 2008 - Cecelia Jeffery, the Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator for USA Cares jumped out of her chair and shouted "She's on fire! That woman in Georgia is just too good for words!" After the commotion had died down and other office personnel learned it was joy not tragedy that prompted the outburst, Cecelia went on to add "Jennifer Housley is a God-send. We have needed someone in Georgia and now we have the best person we could have ever imagined."

Jennifer Housley served in the United States Army for eight years and, for a time, was deployed in Bosnia in the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force. For a while the petite 33 year old was a Heavy Wheeled Vehicle Operator before being re-classified as an intelligence analyst.

When she was asked about her new position, she replied, "In an effort to serve, I decided to volunteer for USA Cares. I wanted to be able to give back to our servicemen and servicewomen as a small token of my appreciation for their continued sacrifice. She went on to add, "Both of my children have been exceptional blessings to me that I could never have possibly imagined. Their fresh innocent spirits and pure hearts remind me continually of how grateful I am, and how fragile our nation's security really is. It has prompted me to have an even deeper respect for those who wear the uniform. In January 2008, my husband volunteered to activate himself from his Army Reserves unit, and so now I also possess the title as an 'Army Wife.'"

USA Cares Executive Director, Bill Nelson commented "We can only do our work with the efficiency that our base of donors expects of us with the help of committed and exceptional volunteers." He then said, "They are our 'boots on the ground' who provide the face of our organization to the Military and the Military Families plus to the other organizations we depend upon. We welcome Jennifer aboard."
