BOSTON, MA - December 15, 2006 - The Massachusetts Renewable Energy Purchasers (MREP) program announced today that Raytheon Company (NYSE:RTN), a program participant, has received funding for a solar electricity system for its Integrated Air Defense Center in Andover, Massachusetts. This installation will harness energy from the sun to generate electricity at the site.

The 98kW photovoltaic system will be constructed by SunEdison, LLC beginning in early 2007. The system will produce approximately 111,000 kWh of electricity annually. "With this impressive commitment to renewable energy from a clean solar source, Raytheon Company will help contribute immensely to cleaner air and help reduce our nation's dependence on fossil fuels," said Dr. Jan Hamrin, president of the Center for Resource Solutions.

Raytheon Company is an award recipient of a Massachusetts Technology Collaborative design and construction grant. The company will match grant award funds to build the system, and, with the grant funding, the project will pay for itself in approximately five years. Raytheon is one of 19 recipients of grant awards designed to foster growth in the renewable energy market in Massachusetts.

Raytheon Company is a member of the MREP, a program that connects businesses and higher learning institutions with top experts in the renewable energy industry to explore clean energy options. MREP is free to members and provides a unique opportunity for large energy buyers to aggregate their purchasing power to obtain the best terms and services from renewable energy vendors. Program participants interested in generating renewable energy on their facilities work with experts through all steps of the process to obtain systems that meet their electric needs and fit their budgets.

MREP is a program formed through the strategic partnership of the Center for Resource Solutions (CRS) and Think Energy, Inc. Together, CRS and Think Energy guide MREP members to cost-effective, clean energy purchasing opportunities. MREP members leverage clean energy commitments to show their leadership in a variety of ways, building awareness for clean energy in Massachusetts.

In January, 2006 MREP made history when program participants carried out the largest group purchase of clean energy made by Massachusetts-based businesses and institutions. The purchasers include: Amherst College; the John Merck Fund; Mount Holyoke College; the Oak Foundation U.S.; PerkinElmer Optoelectronics; Sasaki Associates, Inc.; Smith College; and the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

"This project represents a huge success both for the Massachusetts Renewable Energy Purchasers and for Raytheon Company," said Mark Crowdis, chief executive officer of Think Energy, Inc. "Not only does this represent Raytheon's significant commitment to reducing their environmental impact, it also serves as a hedge against quickly rising electricity prices. This project is financially and environmentally intelligent, and we applaud Raytheon for their innovation."
