WASHINGTON, DC- May 22, 2007 "“ Five of the most outstanding workplace volunteer programs in the country will be recognized at the National Conference on Volunteering and Service in Philadelphia on July 18, 2007.

Former President George H.W. Bush will present the Awards for Excellence in Workplace Volunteer Programs to:

  • AAA of Northern California, Nevada and Utah, which offers automotive, travel, insurance and financial services to thousands of members in Northern California, Nevada and Utah.

  • Citigroup, Inc, which is organized into three business groups - Global Consumer, Corporate and Investment Banking, and Global Wealth Management - in addition to one stand-alone business, Citigroup Alternative Investments.

  • The McGraw-Hill Companies, a global information services provider meeting worldwide needs in financial services, education and business information markets via brands such as Standard & Poor's, McGraw-Hill Education, BusinessWeek and J.D. Power & Associates.

  • Microsoft Corporation, the worldwide leader in software, services and solutions that help people and businesses realize their full potential.

  • The Salt River Project (SRP), the third-largest public power utility in the nation, serving 920,000+ electric customers in the greater Phoenix metropolitan area.

    "The Awards for Excellence are designed to honor a company's overall employee and retiree volunteer effort, including not only the actual community service program, but also the policies and the company vision that support those activities," says Ancilla Chopskie, Director of Business Services for the Points of Light Foundation & Volunteer Center National Network, which sponsors the awards program.
