October 3, 2007 - The speaker roster for ETHICAL SOURCING FORUM Europe just keeps improving.

The 2-day event which will be held at the Sofitel Porte de Sèvres in Paris on 18th-19th October will open with the topic, 'Is Ethical Sourcing possible?'

A newly introduced topic to the agenda is 'Keeping Factories Socially Compliant'.
Today many factories ignore their social compliance commitments, for various reasons, once they have been approved or certified by monitoring programs. The ICTI CARE Process has developed a method to limit this development. Christian Ewert, VP Europe, President and CEO of the ICTI CARE Foundation will discuss the identification of non-compliant factories, unannounced checks, corrective action and probation, and their experience of education and training.

An addition to the choice of Mini-Forums that delegates can choose to attend is 'Uniting to Strengthen Every Link!' - Details of the electronics industry collaborative effort from a company's practical implementation perspective. Mike Loch, Director EHS Strategic Initiatives, of Motorola will explain the GeSI/EICC collaborative activities and how the company has integrated these tools into their procurement practices including:

  • ICT Self Assessment Questionnaire
  • Risk Assessments (both RA1 and RA2)
  • E-TASC: Electronics - Tool for Accountable Supply Chains
  • Joint Audits
  • Learning and Capability Building.

Non-governmental organisations participating include Africa Now, the award winning charity and the presentation of a Factory Improvement Project initiated and developed by the International Labour Organization (ILO).

These fine speakers will join others from Microsoft, Boots the Chemist, Johnson & Johnson, GTZ, De Beers, The Walt Disney Company, Jones Apparel Group, Volkswagen, Fairtrade/Flo-Cert, L'Oréal and many more.

The event will also feature the ESF CHALLENGE with delegates participating in fun, interactive business games on sustainability topics. They will also get to meet their fellow delegates whilst speed networking and attending the Thursday evening cocktail event.
