Commissioned Works By Twenty-One Internationally Renowned Artists Including Denise Tassin, Eric White and Rich Jacobs

Auction Runs Until Benefit Gala in New York in November To Recognize Congressional Designation of National Homeless Youth Awareness Month

WARREN, NJ - August 9, 2007 - Virgin Mobile USA, a leading provider of no-annual-contract wireless phone services targeted at the youth market, today announced it has commissioned a special gallery of works of art created by 21 internationally renowned artists on behalf of The RE*Generation, Virgin Mobile's pro-social initiative to raise awareness of the plight of at-risk and homeless youth. The works, which represent the artists' interpretations of what it's like to be alone and on the fringe, were first shown this past weekend at the Virgin Festival By Virgin Mobile in Baltimore, MD.

As of this week, the art is available for viewing and bidding online at www.regenerationgallery.com and will remain there for a period preceding a benefit gala planned in New York in November where the items will be auctioned off. All proceeds benefit Virgin Mobile's charitable partners in The RE*Generation: StandUp For Kids, YouthNoise and Children's Health Fund.

Each piece has been created on a 24" x 24" wood panel by the artists, some emerging, some established: Diane Barcelowsky, Melinda Beck, Calef Brown, Thomas Campbell, Clayton Brothers, Daniel Davidson, James Gallagher, Julie Goldstein, Matt Hansel, Caroline Hwang, Jordan Isip, Chesiel John, Greg Lamarche, Matt Leines, Julia Marchand, Taylor McKimens, Jean-Pierre Roy, Antonio Sanchez, Denise Tassin, and Eric White, all of whom were specifically chosen by artist and curator Rich Jacobs for their youthful and powerful imagery.

Through the efforts of The RE*Generation, a Congressional resolution was passed last month designating November as a time to focus on the crisis of homeless youth in the U.S.

Diane Barcelowsky

Diane Barcelowsky's work has been exhibited in several galleries including Alona Kagan Gallery in New York, Allston Skirt Gallery in Boston, Pickled Art Center in Beijing, Found Gallery in Los Angeles, Reg Vardy Gallery in the UK and Centre de Cultura Contemporania de Barcelona. Her work has also been recognized in publications including New York Arts Magazine and The New York Times. Barcelowsky currently resides in Brooklyn, New York.

Melinda Beck

Melinda Beck is a fine artist, illustrator and graphic designer based in Brooklyn, New York. Her work has been exhibited at numerous galleries, including a recent new acquisitions show at The Library of Congress. Her work has been recognized by American Illustration, The Art Directors Club Society of Publication Designers, Communication Arts and many others. This is Melinda Beck’s second year participating in The RE*Generation Gallery.

Calef Brown

Visual artist and writer Calef Brown has exhibited his works of art in galleries in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco, and included in "America Illustrated," the inaugural exhibit at the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rome. He is the author and illustrator of four critically acclaimed books for children and his work has been published in Time, Rolling Stone, Newsweek, The New York Times and many other publications. Brown currently lives in Pasadena.

Thomas Campbell

Thomas Campbell is a self-taught painter, photographer, filmmaker, and writer. Campbell's artworks combine scribbles and scriptures, taking slogans and anecdotes from his unique vocabulary and juxtaposing them with a profound look at human nature. Campbell has mounted solo exhibitions in New York, Paris, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Morocco. In 1999, he completed his first feature length surfing film, The Seedling, and in 2004 released his second, Sprout. Thomas Campbell lives and works in Santa Cruz, California.

Clayton Brothers

Rob and Christian Clayton's collaborative process begins when one brother starts a piece and then hands it off to the other for his interpretation. The Clayton Brothers’ work has been exhibited worldwide at galleries and museums such as Bellwether Gallery, The Drawing Center and Clementine Gallery in New York; V1 Gallery in Denmark, Mackey Gallery in Houston, Dallas Museum of Art and Madison Museum of Contemporary Art in Wisconsin. A book of their work, "The Most Special Day of My Life," was published in 2003. Rob and Christian Clayton both currently reside in Southern California, but are originally from Aurora, Colorado.

Daniel Davidson

Daniel Davidson, a San Francisco native, has exhibited his works of art in galleries and museums including the Corcoran Gallery of Art, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, The Carnegie Mellon Museum of Art, and the San Diego Museum of Art. He is also the recipient of the Rome Prize from The American Academy in Rome. Davidson currently resides in Brooklyn.

James Gallagher

James Gallagher is a fine artist, illustrator and art director. His collaged images have been shown in galleries all over the world and have been spotted in Arkitip, J&L Books and numerous Die Gestallen publications This is James Gallagher's second year participating in The RE*Generation Gallery. He attended the School of Visual Arts in New York City and currently lives in Brooklyn.

Julie Goldstein

Julie Goldstein explores a variety of mediums including large-scale hand burnished, woodcut printing, found fabrics and traditional sewing techniques. Topics range from gender roles in contemporary society to the artist's own, deeply personal stories. Julie Goldstein's works have been exhibited in museums and galleries in New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Japan and Brazil. She lives and works on Long Beach Island N.J., a barrier island outside of NYC.

Matt Hansel

Matt Hansel grew up in suburban West Virginia. He earned his BFA from Cooper Union School of Art and his MFA from Yale. His work has been exhibited in group shows in New York City, Brooklyn and Austin. He will have his first solo exhibition in 2008. He currently lives in Brooklyn.

Caroline Hwang

Caroline Hwang was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and has exhibited her work at numerous galleries including Clementine Gallery and Aidan Savoy Gallery in New York, sixspace and New Image Art in Los Angeles, and Motel Gallery in Portland. She has also been featured in Paper Magazine and Swindle Quarterly and has created illustrations for The New York Times, Bust Magazine and HOW Design. Caroline Hwang, who now lives in Brooklyn, is a second year participant in The RE*Generation Gallery.

Jordin Isip

Jordin Isip is from Queens, New York and currently resides in Brooklyn, NY. He has exhibited nationally in galleries in Boston, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia and San Francisco, and also abroad in Berlin, London, Manila, Paris and Rome. His artwork has been published in numerous magazines including Arkitip, The Atlantic Monthly, Juxtapoz, The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, and many other publications. This is Jordin Isip's second year participating in The RE*Generation Gallery.

Rich Jacobs

Rich Jacobs is an artist/curator based in San Francisco and is the curator of The RE*Generation Gallery for the second year. He was born in Long Beach, CA and his artwork has appeared on skateboards and snowboards, in magazines, books and on record and CD covers. For the last ten years, he has curated large, well-received group exhibitions featuring the work of many of his talented friends and colleagues.

Chesiel John

Participating in The RE*Generation Gallery for the second year, Chesiel John's first publicly recognized work, "Peace Mural," was created in 1996 for a Stop the Violence community campaign. Her work has been exhibited primarily in New York City galleries, but also in San Francisco and the Philippines, and has been featured in Jazz IZ magazine, The Financial Times, and many others. She is currently living in Brooklyn.

Greg Lamarche

Hailing from Queens, New York, Greg Lamarche works primarily in collage and painting. He has exhibited his artwork throughout the United States, most recently at White Walls Gallery in San Francisco, OK OK Gallery in Seattle and David Krut Projects in New York. Also an accomplished illustrator, in the last year Lamarche has worked with Zoo York, Carhartt, and Seventh Letter, among others. His artwork has been featured in the magazines Arkitip, Swindle, Garage, Mass Appeal, Alarm, Juxtapoz and Vapors.

Matt Leines

Matt Leines, born and currently based in Montclair, New Jersey, is known for his drawing style, mixing elements of the baroque with the dreamlike narratives of the surrealists. His work has been exhibited across the United States, Europe, Japan and also featured as part of the acclaimed RVCA Artists Network Program. Matt graduated form the Rhode Island School of Design in 2002.

Julia Marchand

Southern California native, Julia Marchand's painting and drawings have been exhibited in galleries in London, New York, San Francisco, Seattle, Palm Springs and Austin. She has an upcoming solo exhibition of new works at Perihelion Arts in Phoenix, AZ in early 2008.

Taylor McKimens

While growing up in the tiny town of Winterhaven, California, Taylor McKimens drew inspiration from comic books and daily life in the Southwest. As a current New York City resident, his work has been shown at galleries and museums including P.S. 1 Contemporary Art Center, Deitch Projects and Clementine Gallery in New York, The Watari Museum of Contemporary Art in Japan and Perugi Artecontemporanea, in Italy.

Jean-Pierre Roy

Jean-Pierre Roy, raised in Venice, California earned his BFA from Loyola Marymount University and his MFA from The New York Academy of Art. Since graduating, his work has been shown extensively in galleries nationwide including two successful solo shows. He currently lives in Brooklyn and teaches painting and drawing at Parsons School of Design. Roy grew up in Southern California.

Antonio Sanchez

Antonio Sanchez is a painter and film editor who lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. As a painter, his works have been exhibited in galleries in Washington DC, Philadelphia and New York. As an editor, he has worked on a variety of award-winning short films and documentaries. Antonio is currently working on an upcoming solo exhibition in Washington DC and a published collection of black and white illustrations of New York from a recent exhibition at advertising agency Foote Cone and Belding.

Denise Tassin

Denise Tassin's work is in the permanent collections of the Baltimore Museum of Art, Sheppard Pratt Health System and University of Baltimore as well as numerous private collections; and has been exhibited worldwide in museums and galleries including the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Baltimore Contemporary Museum and the Delaware Art Museum. The Maryland State Arts Council has recognized her work with four Individual Artist Fellowships in the areas of drawing, installation and painting and she is the 2005 third place winner of The Trawick Prize. Originally from Louisiana, she currently resides in Baltimore, MD.

Eric White

Eric White grew up in Ann Arbor, MI and now resides in Brooklyn. He has shown extensively in galleries and museums such as The American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore; Gracie Mansion, Clementine Gallery, Feigen Contemporary and PPOW in New York; Robert Berman and Track 16 in Los Angeles, and Moda Politica in Tokyo. A fine art monograph of his work, "It Feeds Itself," was published in 2003, followed by a book based on his solo exhibition "Who Are Parents?" in 2005. This is Eric White’s second year participating in The RE*Generation Gallery.
