Dec. 25 /CSRwire/ - Covansys Corporation, (Nasdaq: CVNS) a global technology services company, today announced the donation of $250,000 to various charities focused on the victims of the September 11th terrorist attacks.

In an incredible display of corporate citizenship, Covansys employees worldwide donated more than $75,000, an amount that was matched dollar-for-dollar, not only by the company, courtesy of Covansys Co-chairman and CEO Ned Lautenbach, but also by the Vattikuti Foundation, a charitable organization founded by Covansys Co-chairman and Founder Raj Vattikuti.

"Covansys has a significant East Coast presence, so many of our clients and employees were directly impacted by this disaster," said Vattikuti, "While we struggled with the unbelievable loss of life and talent, it was healing for us to be able to do something productive to help. I was proud to see our employees from around the globe stand united against these acts of terrorism and I commend them for their generosity."

The Covansys contribution is part of a larger $1 million donation made by the American India Foundation, an organization formed by leading Indian-American business and community leaders in the wake of the Gujarat earthquake in 2001, under the leadership of former President Bill Clinton. The American India Foundation reacted speedily to the U.S. disaster, organizing a series of fundraisers and soliciting donations from Indo-American groups and companies.

All charitable contributions raised will be donated to leading September 11th relief funds, including the Twin Towers Fund established by Mayor Rudolf Guiliani, to assist uniformed service victims, their spouses and children, as well as the Families of Freedom Fund established by former Senator Robert Dole and former
President Bill Clinton, to provide educational assistance to the children of the September 11th victims.
