TEMPE, AZ - February 26, 2008 - Supply management professionals have a new tool to help them gain executive support and internal consensus for social responsibility programs. The first and largest supply management institute in the world - Institute for Supply Management(TM) (ISM) - has added a new resource to its Social Responsibility Web site. The downloadable document is titled, A Call to Action: Developing a Social Responsibility Business Case.

Members of ISM's Committee on Sustainability and Social Responsibility developed the business case template to support planning efforts of supply professionals who seek to develop or enhance programs within their organizations. The document covers descriptions, reasons for change, key steps to implementation as well as potential costs, benefits and risks inherent to implementing social responsibility programs.

A Call to Action: Developing a Social Responsibility Business Case is available to any interested individual regardless of membership status in ISM. Go to ISM's Principles of Social Responsibility Web site at www.ism.ws/sr. Select Principles of Social Responsibility from the list at the right side of the screen, and then select the Business Case link. Material may be copied and used with permission with credit given to ISM.

Now in its fourth year, ISM's social responsibility initiative continues to flourish. Forty-three companies and organizations have formally extended their support to ISM's Principles of Social Responsibility. Links to many of those organizations' social responsibility programs are also located on the ISM Social Responsibility Web site.
