CHICAGO, IL - ShoreBank, the nation's first and leading community development and environmental bank, announced today that it has promoted President Anne Arvia to CEO. In this position, Arvia will lead the efforts of ShoreBank Corporation's Chicago and Detroit banking operations, which account for $1 billion in assets.

"Anne's contributions to ShoreBank have been outstanding. She has led strategic planning efforts to grow the bank, developed a program to integrate our services, and has enhanced and strengthened customer relationships," said Ron Grzywinski, Chairman of the Board for ShoreBank Corporation. "Her leadership has resulted in the bank's highest profits and most significant community development outputs in its history."

ShoreBank is committed to revitalizing communities and creating healthier environments by providing multi-family real estate, commercial, and single-family mortgage loans; cash management services to businesses, nonprofits, foundations and faith-based institutions; and a full line of retail banking services. By focusing its lending on the south and west sides of Chicago and on the east side of Detroit, the bank works with individuals and organizations to create economic equity and build stronger communities.

"I am proud of ShoreBank's mission; that's why I joined 12 years ago and it's what motivates me today. As CEO, I will have greater opportunities to help ShoreBank make an impact across communities in Chicago and Detroit," said Arvia.

A member of the ShoreBank Corporation team since 1991, Arvia has held a series of positions with increasing leadership responsibility. She began her career at ShoreBank as Assistant Controller and was promoted to Vice President and Controller in 1993. She advanced to the position of Senior Vice President in 1996 before being named Chief Financial Officer in 1998. In 2001, Arvia assumed the presidency of the ShoreBank Corporation's Chicago bank. Prior to joining ShoreBank, Arvia was an Accounting Manager for accounting firm Crowe, Chizek and Company, LLP.

Involved in many community and professional organizations, Arvia is a board member of the Community Investment Corporation and Community Initiatives, Inc. She serves on the Illinois Certified Financial Public Accountants (ICPA) Financial Institutions Committee, and is a member of the Chicago Financial Exchange. She also is a member of Leadership Illinois and serves on the Illinois Bankers Association. Honors include being named to Crain's Chicago Business' list of "40 Under 40" in 2002. Arvia holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Michigan State University and is a Certified Public Accountant.
