CHICAGO, IL. - March 2, 2009 - The list of manufacturers presenting at the Sustainable Manufacturing Summit continues to grow with representatives from Herman Miller, Shaw Industries, Motorola and ArcelorMittal among the recent additions to the conference program.

This second annual event will examine the latest developments in sustainability for manufacturers of all sectors. It offers access to the corporate executives and green thought leaders steering the transformation to sustainable and cost-efficient manufacturing. Top CEOs and sustainability professionals view this event as an opportunity to benchmark their sustainability programs and improve their strategies.

"At Siemens, we are always trying to improve the way we do things. So, at the Sustainable Manufacturing Summit, we will be on the lookout for best practices," says Ken Cornelius, CEO of Siemens One, who is opening the event. "We would also like to share our ideas on sustainability and hear what other manufacturers have to say on the subject and what they are doing."

Cornelius s sees sustainability rapidly becoming the norm in terms of what customers expect from manufacturers. "Increasingly, customers want to do business with partners who have sustainable business practices and processes. So, if a manufacturer opts to forego making its business sustainable, they could be jeopardizing future revenue," he adds.

Conference delegates will have the opportunity to participate in an interactive session on eco-effective production lead by McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry (MBDC) CEO Ken Alston. "We look forward to exchanging ideas with participants, demonstrating the value of the Cradle to Cradle(SM) framework for tangible sustainable design enhancements, and connecting with company representatives whom we can assist in their own efforts to transform and eliminate the concept of waste," he says.

Other speakers include senior sustainability executives from top manufacturers including Kraft, Toshiba, US Steel, Abbott Laboratories, Sara Lee, Pfizer, Owens Corning, Hollander, and The North Face.

This is a must-attend event for those charged with developing corporate environmental strategies and their advisers.
